Geography field studies in Spain.

Please contact us to discuss course content in detail and remember that we tailor each course to meet your exact requirements.

Costa Brava field courses.

The Costa Brava has almost everything you need for a successful geography field course. Reliably good weather, an interesting and varied coastline, rivers, volcanoes, cities, villages and bustling holiday resorts.

Our geography courses on the Costa Brava often have coastal landscapes as the main component where the excellent examples of coastal management provide great opportunities for both quantitative and qualitative fieldwork.

The granite coastline between the resorts of Platja D'Aro and San Antoni de Calonge and the sand dunes further north at the Gola de Ter illustrate a range of erosional and depositional processes and landforms, all easily accessible for fieldwork.

The Old Quarter in Girona is an excellent example of urban regeneration and was used as the film set for many scenes in Game Of Thrones. Finally a visit to the Garrotxa Volcanic Park near Olot is a must-see for any geography students.

We run iGCSE, GCSE, A Level and IBDP Geography and ESS courses here and please follow the links below to download some examples of typical field course programmes on the Costa Brava.

Almeria field courses.

Our geography field courses in Almeria focus on the Deserts / Drylands / Arid Landscape Systems units at A Level and the extreme environments option in the IBDP.

The Tabernas Desert is often regarded as the only true desert in mainland Europe and is an excellent venue for field studies, particularly for studying desertification, slope process systems, mass movement and the role of episodic fluvial processes in arid environments.

We also visit the Cabo de Gata Natural Park, a stunning coastal volcanic landscape with "barchan-like" sand dunes, where we study aeolian processes, dryland soils and plant adaptations.

We often include a visit to the "Costa del Polythene", the worlds largest concentration of greenhouses. This is an ideal location to study the impact and challenges of sustainable management of intensive agriculture in an area undergoing rapid desertification.
